More people in Cardiff drive electric every year, and charging at home is the cheapest way to run one. I fit home EV chargers right across the city. That covers the family homes with driveways in Rhiwbina, Llanishen, Thornhill and Pontprennau, plus the newer builds around Cardiff Bay. Each charger goes on its own circuit with the right earthing and protection, so it is safe to use every night.
Before I quote, I check your supply, your fuse box and where you park. Some older homes in Canton, Roath and Cathays need a new fuse box first, and I will tell you that up front, not halfway through the job. I fit the charger where it suits your car, keep the cable runs tidy and test everything before I leave. As I am NAPIT registered, the work is signed off properly and you get a certificate for your records.
Supply checked first
I look at your supply, fuse box and parking before I quote, so the price you get is the price you pay.
Any make of charger
Ohme, Zappi, Pod Point, Hypervolt and more. I help you pick one that suits your car and your energy tariff.
Set to charge at night
I link the charger to your wi-fi and set it to charge in your cheap-rate hours, so you pay as little as possible.
Your questions, answered
How much does an EV charger cost to fit in Cardiff?
Most home chargers fall between £800 and £1,200 fitted, with the charger included. It depends on the charger and how far the cable has to run. I give you one fixed price in writing before I start.
I live in a terrace with no driveway. Can I have a charger?
It depends on where you park. Running a cable across a public path is not allowed without the council's say-so, so tell me about your street and I will give you an honest answer.
Do I need a new fuse box for an EV charger?
Not always. Many homes are fine as they are. If yours is old or full, I will tell you before I quote, so there are no surprises.
Is there a grant for an EV charger in Wales?
Grants change often, and most are now for renters, flat owners and businesses. Ask me when you get in touch and I will tell you what is open right now.
