Bridgend is a regular run to the west, from the older homes around the town centre and Newcastle to the big estates at Brackla and the newer developments spreading around the town.

I'm based in Caerphilly. Bridgend is a regular run west along the M4. We agree a day and time when you book.

Bridgend homes and their wiring

Bridgend is an old market town. The oldest homes sit on Newcastle Hill, around the castle and St Illtyd's Church. The town centre became a conservation area in 1999.

Bridgend has grown a lot since the early 1980s. Brackla was farmland until 1936, then a wartime arsenal. Its big housing estate went up in the 1980s. Today nearly a quarter of the town lives there. The town has kept spreading since, with Broadlands to the south-west and Parc Derwen out towards Coity.

A house from the 1980s may still have the fuse box it was built with. Boards that old often lack the RCD cover a new one gives every circuit.

Parc Derwen, near Coity, is much newer. Work on this village of about 1,500 homes started in 2011. The wiring there is modern, so the jobs are extra sockets, garden lights and car chargers.

What I get called out for in Bridgend

Fuse box upgrades in Brackla

Many 1980s homes are ready for a new consumer unit. It adds RCD cover to every circuit.

Care in Newcastle and the old town

Older homes in the conservation areas need a careful hand. I keep cables hidden and lift floorboards with care.

Car chargers on newer estates

Homes with a drive at Parc Derwen or Broadlands suit a home charger. I check your supply first, then fit it and sort the paperwork.

Small business jobs

Bridgend Industrial Estate grew on the old wartime arsenal at Waterton in the 1970s. It is home to lots of units. I take on lighting, new circuits and safety tests there.

What I do in Bridgend

Electrician in Bridgend, questions answered

How much does a fuse box upgrade cost in Bridgend?

It depends on the size of the house and what I find when I test it. You get one fixed price, agreed before any work starts.

Does my 1980s Brackla house need a new fuse box?

Not always. If your board still has old fuses or no RCD, an upgrade is worth it. I can check it and tell you straight. If the board is fine, I'll say so.

Will electrical work change how my Newcastle Hill house looks?

Rarely. Most of the work is inside and I keep it out of sight. For anything new on the outside, such as a light or a charger, check with the council first.

Do you work on Bridgend Industrial Estate?

Yes. I do small commercial jobs there and in Waterton, like lighting, new circuits and safety tests.

Ready for electrics done properly?

Free fixed quotes across Caerphilly and South Wales. Certified work, an immaculate finish and a price that doesn't move.
