House Rewires in Bridgend

I'm Phil Roberts, a NAPIT-registered electrician based over in Caerphilly, and I take on house rewires across Bridgend regularly, it's about a 35 to 40 minute drive for me but well worth it for the work. A lot of what I see in Bridgend is either older stock right in the town centre, some of it Victorian and Edwardian terraces that have never had a full rewire, or estates like Wildmill, which went up in the late 1960s to that Radburn design with the footpaths separating houses from the roads. Wiring from that era is now reaching the age where it needs replacing rather than patching, and I'd rather tell you honestly if that's what your house needs than paper over it.

When I rewire a house in Bridgend I strip out the old cabling completely, first fix the new circuits through the walls and floors, then come back for second fix once your plastering is done, fitting sockets, switches and lighting. Every rewire I do gets tested properly and I issue you with an Electrical Installation Certificate, and because I'm NAPIT registered the work gets notified to Building Control without you having to chase anyone. I cover the whole of Bridgend county borough, so Coity and Pen-y-fai are no trouble either, and being the county town, Bridgend sees a real mix of housing ages, which is exactly the kind of job I'm used to.

Full and partial rewires

Whether it's the whole house or just a couple of rooms, I'll work out what actually needs doing rather than pushing you into more than you need.

Certified and notified

As a NAPIT-registered electrician I test every circuit, issue your certificate and notify the work to Building Control myself.

Local to your job

I know Bridgend's mix of housing well, from the Wildmill estate to the older streets near the town centre, so I turn up knowing roughly what I'm dealing with.

Your questions, answered

How much does a house rewire cost in Bridgend?

It depends on the size of the house and how easy the access is, but a typical three-bed broadly falls between £3,500 and £6,500 depending on size and access. Every job and every house differs, so I'll always give you one fixed written price before I start, no surprises later.

How long does a rewire take?

Most three-bed houses take around a week to ten days from first fix to final testing, depending on how much of the house is involved and whether you're decorating as you go.

Will I need to move out while the rewire happens?

You don't have to, most people stay in the house, though it does mean living with some disruption room by room. I'll always talk you through the plan before I start so you know what to expect.
